New 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 Towing Capacity

New 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 Towing Capacity – We expect the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 to receive a very small update after receiving some more important updates for the 2021 model year.

Colorado 2022 represents the eighth model year of second-generation Colorado. We expect it to be the last model year of the second generation model before a new model arrives for the 2023 model year.

Colorado offers three different engines, including a very fast V-6 and a four-cylinder diesel that pulls the stumps. While the interior is overrun with cheap plastic, and even the largest cabin size has a small rear seat, the truck maintains a pleasant driving position and athletic handling.

Chevy ensures every model has a modern system but leaves many contemporary driver assistance features off the list. Colorado 2022 has a good enough resume to meet many pickup buyers but does not have the qualifications to attract a broader audience.

2022 Chevy Colorado Changes

The Colorado lineup is getting a new look for 2022. The most drastic changes include an aggressively styled face for an already different ZR2 model; 2022 looks more like Bane from the Dark Knight trilogy than a pickup truck. Along with the red crane hooks, ZR2 and Z71 get sand dune metallic paint color. Likewise, lower trim levels will receive a revised front end and different badging than before.

While Colorado is a popular truck, the lack of modern driver assistance and the quality of its subpar interiors reduce its desire. For that reason, we recommend a model that makes the Chevy unique among mid-size pickups. That’s a wide-bodied ZR2.

Sure, this is the most expensive trim level, but it has a number of exclusive appliances that include exotic spool valve shocks, electronic locking diffs on both genders, and one of the wilder front ends we’ve seen in modern trucks. We’ll choose the crew cabin for the larger rear seats and stick with the standard V-6 versus the pricier diesel option.

We will also choose Kinetic Blue paint and a spare tire carrier mounted on the bed because we love the look. The performance air intake and paint-back exhaust of the Power package will make our final list as well.

2022 Chevy Colorado Powertrain

Colorado offers a powertrain for almost everyone: a four-cylinder base with a six-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual is no longer available), a fast 308-hp V-6 with an eight-speed automatic, and the only diesel of this segment — a 2.8-liter four-cylinder that makes impressive 369-pound-foot torque.

While the V-6 and diesel are excellent dance partners for Colorado, the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is weak and grumpy. We have tested diesel and V-6 petrol, and although very different in character, both will serve their owners well.

At 9.1 seconds to 60 mph, the diesel-powered ZR2 crew cabin was unable to keep up with the V-6-powered LT model, which reached that metric in 6.1 seconds. (Surprisingly, the crew cabin ZR2 with the V-6 is significantly slower than its standard V-6 powered counterpart.) The true forte diesel is the maximum towing capability, backcountry trekking, and fuel economy.

Chevy Colorado Towing Capacity

Unlocking colorado’s maximum towing capability (7000 pounds with V-6 and 7700 with diesel) requires a package of Trailering Equipment. A Colorado base with four cylinders can pull 3,500 pounds.

Colorado’s four cylinders get EPA ratings of up to 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on highways. Ratings for the V-6 all-wheel-drive model were unchanged, at 17 mpg city and 24 highways.

The six-cylinder Colorado crew cabin returned 23 mpg, just 1 mpg shy of its 24-mpg EPA highway rating. The rear-drive diesel is the most efficient powertrain in this segment, with an estimated 20 mpg city and 30 highways.

Those familiar with the front seats of a full-size truck will feel right at home in Colorado, which boasts a spacious cockpit. Filling more than two people in the back seat of the available crew cabin would be tight, and the interior material seemed as if they were straight out of a ’94 Chevy S-10 pickup — that is, they looked cheap.

The deep center console bin and a large compartment under the back seat of the crew cabin provide quite a lot of cabin storage. The Colorado interior doesn’t hold as much carry-on luggage as the Honda Ridgeline but will carry more luggage in one of its two thick cargo beds.

Both the short box is 41-cubic-feet of Colorado and the long box of 50-cubic-foot dwarf Ridgeline is a maximum of 34 cubes. Toyota Tacoma is slightly better than Honda, offering 38 cubic feet in short-bed models and 47 in length, but the cargo bed crown belongs to Colorado.

Featuring a Wi-Fi hotspot, two intuitive touchscreens, and a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system, Colorado remains near the top of the segment in terms of infotainment features. The basic truck now offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming for two devices and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities; all other models have an 8.0-inch screen, featuring attractive menus and responsive touch functions. The only way Chevy can improve the MyLink interaction experience is by combining telepathy.
